Caption: not known at present Publication information: Story illustration for “The Mysterious Box” by Dorothy Cottrell appearing in the June 26, 1954 issue of The Saturday Evening Post. Medium: Oil on stretched canvas Size: 21 x 30” Signature: Signed lower left. Condition: Small repair at center, not touching any figures, could use keying out, overall good, in a period frame. Comment: Smith was a versatile illustrator who was one of the mainstays of The Saturday Evening Post. He was equally effective in a number of media and his style is typical of the storytelling of the great magazines of the 1940s and 1950s. Price: SOLD |
