Condition: This is the upper half of the original painting. It's been professional cleaned and relined and is nicely framed.

Comment: Students of Cornwell's work will be aware that many of hia works from this era have been cut down drastically, or even destroyed. Explanations for the reason of such treatment vary... they were either destroyed by Cornwell's wife or were chopped down and the reverse of the canvas reused either by Cornwell himself or in Frank Riley's painting class at The Art Students League. If anybody out there has the bottom half of the composition, I'd be more than happy to hear about it. My suspicion is that it's lost to the sands of time.
