| Artist: Bob Peak (1928-1992) Description: Montage: Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif in Funny Girl. Publication information: This design was never published. Medium: Cut paper, ink, gouache, tempera and pencil Size: 38.5 x 27.5”” Signature: Not signed. Condition: One small piece has become detached (see detail photo), traces of adhesive residue bleeding through, light surface dirt, wrinkling to lower leg of figure at furthest right. Overall good for something of its age and fragility, taped at corners to a heavier board, not framed. Comment: Peak’s poster designs for movies including My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Camelot, Star Trek and Apocalypse Now would have ensured his inclusion in the pantheon of great illustrators, even if he’d not done any other work. Luckily for all of us who care about American illustration the movie work was but a part of his high profile career. Price: $4,100. |
