| Artist: Norman Saunders (1907-1989) Description: Swept away by a brothel fire. Publication information: Story illustration for "Nashville's Wild Wild Women" published in the December 1961 issue of True Adventures magazine on pps. 32-33. Medium: Gouache en grisaille Size: 15.25 x 20” Signature: not signed. Condition: Very good, not framed. Comment: For those unfamiliar with Saunders’ work—and hard though it is to believe, there may be a few of you—Saunders is most instantly associated with pulp magazine cover artwork and with his work for the Topps Company, producers of sports and non-sports cards. This is a good starter piece for people interested in starting a collection… a book on the artist is being published by The Illustrated Press and will be widely available in November.
