Caption: “Lottie was in the rottenest jail you ever heard of, but you know of her pluck – she hadn’t complained of a thing” Publication information: Story illustration for “The Parasite” by Booth Tarkington, published in The Saturday Evening Post of January 23, 1926. Medium: Charcoal and pencil, with small areas of watercolor highlights Size: 15.5 x 13.75” Signature: signed and dated, lower right. Condition: Good. Board is brittle, but safely matted and framed. Comment: Raleigh was great at portraying society types… even when they were in trouble. Tarkington and Raleigh teamed up for many stories in The Post. Price: $1,200. |
