von Schmidt, Harold

Print
Price: $4,250.00

Description: Woman bringing food to field workers

Comment: By the late 1920’s von Schmidt had, at least pretty much, moved away from smaller gouache (often black and white) works on to the large oils which he felt allowed him to express himself as the story dictated. Here’s a really nicely painted one. He gets so much across through his use of light and the decreasing amount of detail as one moves farther and farther away from the source of the illumination. Figure of the central woman was posed by “Reb,” Harold’s wife.

Price: $4,250 + $150 shipping.
