Description: Panther lies in wait for hunter-boy

Comment: Recently, while I was in New York, one of my goals was to find this image amidst the microfilmed pages of The Saturday Evening Post at the New York Public Library. On the back of the art is a label stating “Green-Eyed Cat” as the story title and 5/28/62 as the date that the original arrived at the magazine. I did not find this at NYPL... grrrrr... looking at microfilm for hours on end (for those who’ve not done it) is a tough job and The Post seems to have had a systematic policy at this point of changing story titles. Double grrrr... I know this because of other pieces I was looking for and found.... I’d sure be interested to hear any explanations of The Post’s policy.

Condition A few very small losses... the most noticeable being in the darker area of grass between the panther’s paws. Also a bit of an abrasion running essentially diagonally from upper right, which becomes very hard to see once in its frame, but which I think is clear in the photo here.
