Comment:  Like many of the greats and particularly those of his generation, Tauss was, it seems to me, constantly in the process of changing his style. Here’s a nod to Coles Phillips which can hardly be read as accidental. It’s also interesting to see (although I don’t show it here) the process. With the mat off, one can see how he built up the color in layers. If you want photos of what I’m talking about, just ask.
