Comment: One of the aspects that I like best about E. Boyd Smith's work is that while the “acting” and in particular of the secondary and tertiary characters may border on the melodramatic, his strong outlines and sure handling of watercolor not only point towards the influence of European poster design, but also serves as a handy lead-in to much in the way of bold, “modern” design.
