Comment:  Years (and I mean years… in 1995 to be precise), Illustration House (for whom I worked at the time) sold this at auction. My recollection (of which I’m quite confident) was that back then it was consigned by one of Jon’s descendants. That means that the trimming one sees evidenced in the magazine reproduction would have been done by the artist himself to make for a more easily-displayed and cohesive presentation. As an aside, it would have been in color in the magazine (of course)… I pulled the repro from an online microfilmed version. All this time later, it’s resurfaced  and I’m glad to see an old friend again.
